30 weeks

Today we had our 30 week appointment and got to see our original obstetrician (the pregnant one). It was great getting to meet with her once again, in all reality it was just very comforting. This pregnancy hasn't been the easiest and there have definitely been events that have come and gone that have caused a lot of anxiety and worry. Getting to see Dr. Owens was great in the sense that it brought me a lot of relief. There is a lot of comfort in having a doctor who has followed you through everything, knows your history, and has great people skills! Dr. Owens was very proactive with making sure that i'm monitored closely through the remainder of my pregnancy to prevent from any complications, risks, or stress for both the baby or myself.

At this point, i will continue to be seen on a bi-weekly basis as any normal pregnant woman undergoes. In addition to my appointments every two weeks, she has decided to have me come in twice a week for a Fetal Non Stress Test (NST). This test involves placing a belt on my tummy that monitors the baby's heart rate and another belt that monitors contractions. I will be required to go in twice a week for 1/2 hour sessions of monitoring. There is nothing that came up that made the doctor concerned or gave her any reason for the frequent monitoring other than the fact that my high blood pressure prior to pregnancy puts me in the high risk category. Fortunately, since getting pregnant and pre=pregnancy even, my blood pressure has been controlled wonderfully and there have been no signs of any risks from increased blood pressure.

We are scheduled for another ultrasound at 32 weeks to measure the baby's growth. We're hoping that he will be positioned in such a way that will allow for some 3 dimensional photos to be taken. Last ultrasound visit there wasn't enough amniotic fluid between the baby and placenta to get a good shot so hopefully he'll cooperate. After the 32 week ultrasound, we will have a final ultrasound at 36 weeks to make sure baby is positioned correctly and ready for arrival! One thing that Dr. Owens did decide on at this appointment was she will go ahead and induce me at 39 weeks to prevent from any complications or stress on baby or myself. Can't believe he'll be here in 9 weeks-thats NOTHING!!!

Will report back about baby after next appointment scheduled for April 19th.
