1 week doctor visit

Today we had our 1 week visit at the Pediatricians. Gabriel is weighing 7 lbs. 1 oz. which is an increase but not enough of an increase to where the pediatrician would like for him to be. At this stage, babies are to gain an ounce a day and in a week, Gabriel has only gained 3 oz. After a consultation with both the doctor and the lactation specialist, we have decided to start giving Gabriel a little formula to supplement the breast feeding until he can achieve his birth weight. I have also been told that it would be a good idea to start pumping my breast milk to stimulate production which will ensure that Gabriel has enough to eat. I'm not thrilled about giving him formula but at the same time I'm hopeful that the formula will get him up to his birth weight and then he can return to solely eating breast milk. We are having to return to the doctor on Thursday for a weight check to see how the little guy packs on the lbs!
