Today our son Gabriel, had his Bris or Brit Milah, a Jewish ritual where a baby boy gets circumcised at 8 days of age. The Brit Milah took place at Grandpa's house this morning. We were surrounded by some of our close friends, family, and friends of the family to celebrate this special ritual.
The event was catered with kosher food, I was a bit nervous about this, but fortunately the food wasn't too bad.
The ceremony only took 10-15 minutes, I was in the room up until my son was presented to my father, who would hold Gabriel while the Mohel performed the circumcision.
At that point, I stepped out of the room, in fact out of the house, because I knew there was no way I'd be able to stand hearing the cries of my baby without bursting into tears myself. I stepped outside and within a few minutes was joined by both my mom and my good friend Athena. Thanks for the support ladies! After a quick minute or two, my sister came out to get me. When I walked in I was informed by everyone how well my son performed. Apparently he didn't even cry nor did he have any bleeding. What a tough little man, mommy and daddy were so proud of him today.
The party lasted for a good bit of the morning and Gabriel the main man was exhausted after his big performance. He decided to sleep through his entire party. I don't blame the little guy, what a tough thing for such a small person to have to go through!
